Master mention Sciences de la Terre, Planètes et Environnement (STPE) - 2 parcours

Course Details

Objectives : The Master's degree in Earth, Planetary and Environmental Sciences (STPE) aims to provide students with solid theoretical and practical skills and know-how in the following fields:
- composition and dynamics of the solid and fluid envelopes of the globe and continental ecosystems and their interactions
- composition and evolution of the Earth and associated natural resources
- prospecting and management of geological resources
- measurement and monitoring of the physicochemical parameters of continental waters and soils for environmental purposes
- comprehensive approach to pollution problems at the level of soils and surface or groundwater and the corresponding risks including issues relating to environmental law
- development/deployment of in-situ sensors and use of spatial observations for the characterization and management of surface or groundwater, soils and vegetation
- characterization and measurement of material properties.

This master's degree offers 2 courses:
- Earth: Exploration, Resources, Research, Evolution (EARTH): aims to analyze and synthesize multiple geological data to answer fundamental geological questions (processes, dynamics and evolution of the Earth's envelopes) or applied questions (geotechnics, exploration and management of resources, geological storage, energy transition).
- Observation and Sustainable Management of the Environment (OGDE): aims to characterize environments, provide soil and groundwater pollution diagnoses, model flows and transfer of pollutants in water tables and propose the implementation of a soil or groundwater investigation program.

Degree Level (EU) : 7 - (EQC level or equivalent)

Acquired skills during the training : - Implement knowledge to characterize the structure and evolution of the internal and/or external envelopes of the globe and the major mechanisms of interactions and exchanges between these envelopes, including the impact of human activities.
- Select and implement the appropriate tools, analytical methods and concepts in geology, geophysics and hydro-biogeochemistry to physically and chemically characterize the components of the soil and subsoil and their spatial organization.
- Mobilize scientific knowledge and implement an appropriate approach to model surface and subsurface geological data, explore and exploit natural resources (energy and mineral resources, water) and propose solutions for sustainable environmental management (water quality, soil pollution, hazards).
- Understand and express oneself easily in English, orally and in writing, for effective communication with the international scientific community.

Targeted careers : academic, industrial, design office or local authority fields.
