Course Details

Objectives : The scientific knowledge at the end of the license concerns:
- The spatial organization of territories and the functioning of human societies, in developed and developing countries.
- The dynamic functioning of major types of geographic spaces (urban, rural, peri-urban, etc.) and their interactions with physical environments according to a multi-scalar approach, from local to global.
- Sectoral policies and modes of institutional organization of territories (economic development, transport, tourism, culture, regional planning, etc.)
- The interactions between the evolution of territories, the interplay of actors and legal bodies.

Methods of analysis and modeling of human societies, the environment and spaces (reading of landscapes, qualitative and quantitative analyses, cartographic analyses, spatial analysis, systemic modeling, etc.)

In L3, EU choices allow specialization (development and town planning, environment and natural risks, geomatics and processing of geographical information, geopolitics and development, preparation for teaching competitions) on the basis of a common core addressing the fundamental themes of geography, so that students can apply to a wide range of Masters.

Degree Level (EU) : 6 - (EQC level or equivalent)

Admission requirements : This course corresponds to the 3rd year of the Bachelor's degree in Geography and Planning

Acquired skills during the training : - Know how to construct an argued and critical geographer's discourse, both orally and in writing, based on problematization.
- Know how to process and analyze data, particularly geo-referenced data.
- Master the use of office automation and cartographic drawing software and learn about software specific to geography (Geographic Information System, remote sensing, spatial modeling).
- Know how to construct, analyze and communicate a basic territorial diagnosis.
- Know how to carry out an integrated field study (in particular via observation, investigation and collection of data or information aimed at addressing a geographical question).
